Accessibility
Everyone gets a seat at the table.
A review is only useful if you can read it. We hold this site to the same standard we hold a kitchen to — and we write the gaps down so you can hold us to it.
Our standard
Four Loons aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. That is the bar; the sections below are an honest account of where we meet it and where we do not yet.
What this site does
- Semantic HTML landmarks — header, navigation, main, and footer — on every page.
- A visible keyboard focus indicator on every interactive element, and a logical tab order.
- Text and interface colors tested against WCAG AA contrast ratios on the paper background.
- Alternative text on editorial photography, and decorative marks hidden from assistive technology.
- Full support for
prefers-reduced-motion: every entrance, reveal, and transition is reduced to a simple fade — or removed — when you ask your system to minimize motion. - Layouts that reflow without horizontal scrolling down to a 320 px viewport, and that respect text resized to 200%.
Known gaps we are working on
We would rather name the work than claim it is finished. As of June 2026 we are improving:
- Screen-reader labelling on a small number of data components, including the categorical rating breakdown.
- Focus management when overlays and the mobile menu open and close.
- Captions and transcripts for any audio or video we publish in the future.
Tell us where it breaks
If any part of Four Loons is hard to use — a control you cannot reach, text you cannot read, an image without a description — we want to hear it, and we treat it as a correction, not a complaint. Write to editors@fourloons.com with the page and what went wrong, and we will respond and, where we can, fix it.
