Support
The publication runs on readers.
Four Loons takes no display advertising, no sponsored content, no affiliate dollars on review pages. The way it stays independent is direct reader support — paying for the visits, the reviewers, the photography, the time.
If a review meant something — if it sent you to a venue you would not otherwise have known, or kept you from one you would have regretted — the publication has done its job. The protocol behind that work is documented at our methodology page: anonymous visits, paid checks, a multi-visit minimum, a published rubric. That protocol costs money. Reader support is what pays for it.
Below are the ways to contribute. There is no membership tier scheme, no paid-only content. Reviews are free to read. Contributions are voluntary, recurring or one-time, and small amounts add up.
A note on what reader support buys
Reader support pays for the protocol — see methodology. It does not buy positive coverage, accelerated review timelines, or any influence over editorial decisions. Operators who would like to ensure their venue is considered for review should reach editors@fourloons.com directly; that channel is separate from this one.
